parco di naquane da bedolinaValle Camonica is characterised by the world’s richest heritage of rock engravings of the alpine area. The engravings cover a wide span of time, from Prehistory up to the Medieval period.

At the current state of research more than 180 engraved rock localities have been discovered, scattered in 30 municipalities of the Valley.

Despite this widespread presence of the phenomenon, the engraved rocks are mainly grouped into two areas: in the Lower Valley on the hills of Luine and Gorzone (at the edge of ferruginous and magnesium springs in Boario Terme) and in Middle Valley in the municipalities of Capo di Ponte (the core-area of the rock art), Ceto, Cimbergo, Paspardo and Sellero, an area dominated by the impressive Pizzo Badile to the East and by Concarena to the west.
